Carters Steam Fair travels around London and the South East, for seven months of the year. The other five months are spent in a frenzy of restoration, painting and repairing. Some of the family have even been known to wander into the shed on Christmas Day just to finish some work off!!!Carters is the result of John Carters passion for collecting old and interesting items, discarded by the owners, as being too unfashionable or too derelict to preserve. Over the last thirty years a whole funfair has been collected, complete with historic vehicles to transport it from site to site, with vintage living vans to complement the show. Jonathan Ross described us "as more like a film set than a travelling fair".

Open auditions are being held on Monday 18th September by the Knaphill and St Johns Operatic Group (KASJOG) at the Maybury Centre, for principals in their forthcoming production of "Die Fledermaus" featuring the music of Johann Strauss II, adapted by Phil Park and Ronald Hanmer, and by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd. This year's charity festival was almost cancelled, but a new venue has been found, The Exchange Hotel, Farnham, Surrey (opposite Farnham railway station). Bands due to play include Juice and 4play, (friday pm), Ciao Buddha : Dayglo Pirates, The : Flying Tigers, The : Jackie Lynton Band : True Deceivers, The : UK Blues Project, The. (Saturday from 12.30pm). Proceeds go to Lord Mayor Treloars, a charity that helps physically and mentally disabled children.
